FTA Section 5310
Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities
This program provides funding to states and designated recipients to meet the transportation needs of older adults and people with disabilities when the transportation service provided is unavailable, insufficient, or inappropriate to meet these needs. States, local government authorities, and designated recipients are direct recipients. Funding Availability
Section 5310 funds are available to the states and designated recipients for the fiscal year of apportionment plus two additional years, for a total of three years.
Allocation of Funding
Section 5310 funds are apportioned among the states and designated recipients according to a formula based on the number of older adults and people with disabilities in each state, according to the latest available U.S. Census data.
Eligible applicants
- Private, nonprofit organizations.
- State or local government agencies.
- Public transportation operators (including private operators)
Eligible funding uses
The Section 5310 Program is a cost-reimbursement program that requires no less than a 20 percent local match for capital costs and no less than 50 percent local match for operating costs.
