Citizens Advisory Network

Mission Statement

The mission of the Ben Franklin Transit (BFT) Citizens Advisory Network (CAN) is to advocate for public transit and serve as a resource to the BFT Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer in achieving the transit agency’s mission and goals.

About Us

Ben Franklin Transit’s Citizens Advisory Network serves as an advisory resource to the BFT Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer. Members serve without compensation except for reimbursement for approved expenses. Monthly meetings are held on the third Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the BFT Administration Building, located at 1000 Columbia Park Trail, Building 1038. These meetings are open to the public.

The Citizens Advisory Network consists of between nine and 15 members of the public. Members speak on behalf of constituents on the review of transit budgets, development plans, and route and fare change proposals. They also contribute ideas and suggestions for more efficient and user-friendly transit services. CAN members represent a diverse group of local citizens who believe that efficient public transit is essential for continued community growth. This group serves as transit’s eyes and ears, seeking ways to enhance the transit experience for all.
