Mission Statement
The mission of the Ben Franklin Transit (BFT) Citizens Advisory Network (CAN)A board comprised of BFT riders who serve as the voice of the community in advocating for public transit and serving as a resource to BFT management and Board of Directors in accomplishing the agency’s mission and goals. More is to advocate for public transit and serve as a resource to the BFT Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer in achieving the transit agency’s mission and goals.
Citizens Advisory Network Application
Ben Franklin Transit (BFT) is seeking advocates of public transit, ages 18 and over, to serve as members of its Citizens Advisory Network (CAN)A board comprised of BFT riders who serve as the voice of the community in advocating for public transit and serving as a resource to BFT management and Board of Directors in accomplishing the agency’s mission and goals. More. Members of the CAN serve in an advisory capacity to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors by representing the interests of the community and speaking on behalf of the public on transit plans, policies, and services. The group meets monthly on the third Monday at 6 p.m. at the BFT Administration Building located at 1000 Columbia Park Trail in Richland.

“We want the CAN membership to represent all facets of our community,” said Citizens Advisory Network Chair Dennis Kreutz. “We look for ways to make riding transit a better experience for everyone.”
About Us
Ben Franklin Transit’s Citizens Advisory Network serves as an advisory resource to the BFT Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer. Members serve without compensation except for reimbursement for approved expenses. Monthly meetings are held on the third Monday at 6:00 p.m. in Room 304 of the BFT Administration Building located at 1000 Columbia Park Trail, Building 1038. These meetings are open to the public.
The Citizens Advisory Network consists of 9-15 members of the public. Members speak on behalf of constituents on the review of transit budgets, development plans, and route and fare change proposals. They also contribute ideas and suggestions to make transit services more efficient and user-friendly. CAN members represent a diverse group of local citizens who believe that efficient public transit is essential for continued community growth. This group serves as transit’s eyes and ears, seeking ways to enhance the transit experience for all.
