Happy Birthday, Rosa Parks
January 30, 2026
In honor of Rosa Parks’ birthday on February 4–also known as Transit Equity Day–we have placed commemorative signage on every fixed-route bus to highlight her contributions to public transit. Her refusal to give up her seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955 led to her arrest and sparked the year-long Montgomery Bus Boycott, which significantly advanced the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. This year’s theme is Transit Moves Democracy, and this nationally recognized day is set aside to acknowledge the workers, riders, and communities fighting for just, accessible, and fully funded public transit.
