Heritage University Tri-Cities Students Included in BFT Pass Program
October 12, 2026
Starting October 12, 2026, Ben Franklin Transit (BFT) will give Heritage University Tri-Cities students, staff, and faculty the option of using their Heritage University ID as a bus pass. This will expand access to education and employment across the BFT service area.
This program is made possible thanks to an agreement with Heritage University Tri-Cities, which will help cover the cost of the passes. It offers Heritage University students the same opportunity that Washington State University Tri-Cities and Columbia Basin College students have enjoyed for years. Now, adults enrolled in all of our region’s higher education institutions will be able to attend classes without worrying about rising fuel prices, vehicle maintenance, or parking access on campus.
“Transportation can be a significant barrier for students, particularly as they balance work, family, and their education,” said Adriana Villafan, Heritage University Associate VP for Strategic Initiatives. “This partnership with Ben Franklin Transit allows Heritage University to provide our Tri-Cities students with access to public transportation at no cost, removing one more obstacle between them and their academic goals. We are incredibly grateful to Ben Franklin Transit for their partnership and shared commitment to supporting students and expanding access to higher education in the Tri-Cities.”
To participate, Heritage University Tri-Cities students, faculty, and staff will need to show their University ID to the driver when using Ben Franklin Transit buses, Dial-A-Ride, and CONNECT services. Download the free Transit app to plan your trip and see when the next available bus will arrive!
