Increase in Rideshare Fares
Rideshare Fare Update – Effective January 1, 2026
Ben Franklin Transit is sharing a reminder regarding an upcoming Rideshare fare update.
As previously communicated via direct notices, our website, the payment portal, and ongoing conversations with our Rideshare Program Coordinators and billing team, Rideshare fares will increase by 10% beginning January 1, 2026.
This adjustment marks the first Rideshare fare update in more than a decade. During that time, the cost of living and the cost to operate a safe, reliable, and sustainable shared-ride program have continued to rise. This modest update allows BFT to responsibly maintain service quality while continuing to offer one of the region’s most affordable commuting options.
Advance notice has been intentionally provided across multiple channels to support transparency and allow groups time to plan.
If you have questions or would like assistance reviewing how this update applies to your group, our Rideshare team is always happy to help.
Rideshare Nonoperational Days & Holidays – Important Reminder
Each Rideshare group is allotted:
- Up to five (5) nonoperational days per calendar year, and
- Four to five (4–5) recognized holidays per year, based on the BFT holiday calendar.
Nonoperational days and holidays are separate categories and may not be used on the same date.
- Holidays may only be entered as holidays.
- Nonoperational days may only be used on non-holiday workdays.
- Entering both for the same date results in a double discount and is not allowable.
Entries are reviewed for accuracy, and overlapping claims will be corrected to ensure consistency and program compliance.
If you are unsure how to enter a specific date, please contact the Rideshare team before submitting.
