Medical/Dental/Vision

All non-represented employees are covered by the State of Washington Health Care Authority which covers medical, dental, vision, long term disability, and life insurance.

Union employees are covered by their union contract.

General Leave

BFT employees accrue general leave or vacation at different rates based on their years of service and classification.

Retirement Plans

• Washington State Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS) – All employees are covered by the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems and may choose either PERS II or PERS III upon hire.
• Deferred Income Retirement Plan (ICMA) – Ben Franklin Transit offers two deferred compensation plans (IRS 457 plans) known as the “ICMA” and the “DCP”.  The specific details of the plans are available from the Human Resources or Accounting Department.
