Prosser/Benton City General Demand Service

Ben Franklin Transit offers a General Demand service, which is a way for you to reserve transportation in advance, with travel between designated stops outside of the regular bus routes and the nearest BFT intercity stop or transit center. BFT provides this service to riders in Prosser and Benton City, connecting you to Routes 110 and 170 or Knight Street Transit Center in Richland.

Hours of Operation

Prosser HOURS: Monday - Friday: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (last pickup at 6 p.m.)
 

No service on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays.

Holiday Hours

BFT does not operate and ALL OFFICES ARE CLOSED on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day (4th of July)
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

On Christmas Eve, BFT will operate on a normal schedule, but will terminate service early.


Schedule a Ride

Prosser and Benton City General Demand service is demand responsive – you must request service to receive service. Phone reservations required at least one day or up to seven days in advance. Reservations for Monday must be made before 5:00 p.m. on the previous Friday.

You will be scheduled for pickup at a designated time and you must be at the stop at that time. The BFT vehicle may arrive up to 20 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time to accommodate multiple nearby customer pickups; please allow for this flexibility if you have an appointment.

When you call to make a reservation, you will be asked for:
  • Your name and phone number
  • Date of the planned trip 
  • Stop numbers for pick-up and drop-off locations (see below for stops & maps)
  • Desired arrival time at your destination; inform us if you have an appointment time
  • If you are using a wheelchair, scooter, portable oxygen, or other type of mobility aid
  • If a service animal or pet (must be in a carrier) will accompany you
  • All the above information for your return trip, if one is needed.
